Are You a Trained Leader???

ALL successful companies and organizations come about because they have experienced leaders and employees that have been TRAINED in their positions. This is no different for the BSA. In order for our Scouts to experience the best possible program that we can give them, we need to do our part. Having our leaders fully trained is also a vital part of ensuring our Centennial Quality Unit status for 2009.

Minimum requirements for a "trained" BSA leader/Committee Member:

  • Youth Protection
    (online, roundtable, or district/council level)
  • Boy Scout Fast Start
    (online or district/council level)
  • New Leader Essentials
    (district/council level or roundtable)
  • Troop Committee Challenge
    (online or district/council level)
  • Hazardous Weather
    (online)

Other Recommended Trainings:

  • Saftey Afloat (online)
  • Safe Swim Defense
  • Scoutmaster/ASM (district/council level)
  • Outdoor Leader Experience (district/council level)

If necessary, you can stop your training while in progress and pick up where you left off. The website keeps track of trainings that are not started,  in progress, and completed and will show you your status on each. Once you get to the webpage you will need to create an account which is FREE. You will NOT need your BSA ID Number to register.

Please  make sure that when you have completed a training, you print off the certificate and make a copy for Mr. Rissler.

Re-Chartering and Quarterly Dues
Now Being Collected

If you plan on continuing to be a registered adult with Troop 175, the $10.00 re-chartering fee is now being collected by Mrs. Davidson. Please get payment to her as soon as possible in order for the re-chartering process to go smoothly and quickly. If you do not pay by Dec. 1st it will be considered that you no longer wish to be registered.

There are numerous Scouts that have also been delinquent in paying their quarterly dues of $10.00 ($5.00 for Eagle Scouts). If you owe money, please make sure that payment is made immediately or you will not be allowed to attend monthly campouts until your account is in good standing.

If you wish to use money that is currently in your son's Scout account, you MUST notify Mrs. Davidson. It will not be deducted automatically.

This Week's Topic:
How to Recognize and Treat
Hypothermia

In this week's video, Backpacker Magazine shows how to recognize and treat hypothermia. With the colder weather approaching, it is important to know what to do in case you or your buddies begin to experience these effects. While the video focuses on someone falling into the water, hypothermia can occur from many different sources and can occur at any time of the year. This is a skill that all Scouts should know and master because it is vital to your survival in the wilderness.

Welcome to Troop 175

Boy Scout Troop 175 has been serving the Blue Springs, MO community since 1992. Since then, our program has helped over 50 boys attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Our Troop has an active outdoor program that includes monthly campouts, summer camp at H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, and high-adventure trips to places such as Colorado, Philmont Scout Ranch, and the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. These programs offer our young men unique experiences and are designed to be safe and fun while teaching them the values and morals they will need in order to become valuable assets and good citizens in both our community and nation.

Our Troop meets on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection located at 1433 NW R.D. Mize Rd. (on the northwest corner of R.D. Mize Rd. and 15th St.) in Blue Springs, MO.

How Do I Join????

Boy Scouting is open to any boy between the ages of 11 and 18. For more information please feel free to drop us an email by clicking HERE or visit one of our weekly meetings.

How Can Parents Help???

Active, committed Leaders and parents are the heart and soul of a successful Troop and our Troop is no different. We welcome any and all new adult leaders who are willing to give of their time. Whether it is in a simple volunteer position or in a leadership role, you don't need to have any special abilities to make a huge difference in a young man's life. If you choose to become a leader, we will make sure that you are provided with any necessary training in order for you to perform in a variety of leadership roles.
